European operation dismantles ransomware network targeting hospitals

Law enforcement agencies from 12 European countries, coordinated by the European Cyber Crime Centre, have dismantled a ransomware network responsible for attacks on hospitals, clinics and medical suppliers in nine member states.

In simultaneous actions, investigators seized 34 servers, froze cryptocurrency wallets linked to ransom payments, and arrested four suspects accused of developing and leasing the malicious software to affiliates.

Hospitals affected by the network are being contacted by their national authorities with recovery support. Organisations that believe they may have been targeted should report through their national cyber crime portal.
